The 4k Ultra HD release of Ghost in the Shell will be available on September 8. To start off, the Japanese, the original audio is only available in 2.0. Yeah, the picture quality is better than the DVD, and it has a '5.1 HD Master' of the English dub, but other than that, its not really worth your money. Of all the different versions of Ghost in the Shell, the original is the one that's had the most longterm cultural impact. This anniversary release is perhaps the fresh coat of paint that will allow more newcomers to finally see what all the fuss is about. In this highly anticipated prequel set in the year after the fourth World War, cyborg and hacker Motoko Kusanagi finds herself wrapped up in the investigation of a devastating bombing. There is also yet another version known as Ghost in the Shell: Arise that explores the early years of Major Kusanagi and her team of crime fighters known as Section 9. There is the movie sequel Ghost in the Shell: Innocence, then a reimagined television version of this universe known as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex that further explores the complexity of prosecuting crime in this future. Good or evil, there’s no humanity on either side. Impressive visuals aside, this film is a joyless experience to watch. lets start with the Original Ghost in the Shell 1995 movie, this movie is a stand alone title, it can be watched after or before the animated series which I will get into in a little. The creative minds behind Ghost in the Shell have merged mankind’s evolution with its frenetic love affair with technology and made a chilling prognostication with this parable.
